Organ Donation Campaign – Porto Alegre City Hall

Challenge

The Secretary of Health from Porto Alegre City Hall asked for our help to increase organ donation in our society. There were two main issues: encourage more people to turn into donators and let people know their decision. In Brazil, to be an organ donor is very easy: all you have to do is let your family know about your decision.

Insight

Our aim was to create a project to engage our audience through social media. The idea was to use games to talk with them, showing in a virtual environment how life goes on and how easy it is to donate organs, turning gammers into real life organ donators.

Solution

In the Restart Project, when players die, they can become donors and those who get their donation keep on playing. One’s game over turns into a new life for others. It is just like in real life: a single donor can save many lives. On Facebook, players let everyone know they have just donated their organs virtually and announce that they would also like to be a donor in real life, tagging their families.
